Introducción: el tabaquismo continúa siendo una de las principales problemáticas de salud pública a nivel mundial, además de ser la primera causa prevenible de enfermedad y muerte, por lo tanto, los odontólogos, juegan un rol primordial en la prevención del hábito en sus primeras etapas, por este motivo, la formación en cesación del tabaco en los profesionales se convierte en una necesidad al momento de la atención de los pacientes fumadores. Objetivo: evaluar los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los residentes de posgrado en las diferentes especialidades de la Universidad Santo Tomás, y su relación con las características sociodemográficas respecto al soporte para la cesación del tabaquismo. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional analítico de corte transversal, cuya muestra fue de 98 residentes de distintas especialidades odontológicas, quienes respondieron un cuestionario de 8 preguntas para medir conocimiento, 5 de actitudes y 4 de prácticas, validado por expertos en el área, diligenciado de manera virtual a través de un código QR en la plataforma GoogleForms y de manera física con encuestas impresas. Se realizó análisis univariado con pruebas de frecuencia absoluta y porcentaje, y bivariado, utilizando la prueba exacta de Fisher, con una significancia estadística de p<0.005. Resultados: los participantes se dividieron en 62% de sexo femenino y un 38% de sexo masculino, divididos en cuatro especialidades, donde se encontró que la mayor parte de los encuestados corresponde al estrato cuatro, correspondiente al 53% de la muestra, en el apartado de conocimiento se ubicaron en las categorías baja y media, totalizando un 85%, mientras que, para los apartados de actitudes fue del 37% y prácticas del 38%, resultado categorizado como alto. Conclusiones: con los resultados obtenidos, se pudo evidenciar que, durante el presente estudio, no hubo una relación entre las variables sociodemográficas de los participantes con su nivel de conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas. |

Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional analítico de corte transversal, cuya muestra fue de 98 residentes de distintas especialidades odontológicas, quienes respondieron un cuestionario de 8 preguntas para medir conocimiento, 5 de actitudes y 4 de prácticas, validado por expertos en el área, diligenciado de manera virtual a través de un código QR en la plataforma GoogleForms y de manera física con encuestas impresas. Se realizó análisis univariado con pruebas de frecuencia absoluta y porcentaje, y bivariado, utilizando la prueba exacta de Fisher, con una significancia estadística de p<0.005. Resultados: los participantes se dividieron en 62% de sexo femenino y un 38% de sexo masculino, divididos en cuatro especialidades, donde se encontró que la mayor parte de los encuestados corresponde al estrato cuatro, correspondiente al 53% de la muestra, en el apartado de conocimiento se ubicaron en las categorías baja y media, totalizando un 85%, mientras que, para los apartados de actitudes fue del 37% y prácticas del 38%, resultado categorizado como alto. Conclusiones: con los resultados obtenidos, se pudo evidenciar que, durante el presente estudio, no hubo una relación entre las variables sociodemográficas de los participantes con su nivel de conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas.Introduction: smoking continues to be one of the leading public health issues worldwide, as well as the primary preventable cause of disease and death. Therefore, dentists play a crucial role in the early prevention of the habit on early stages. This is why training professionals in smoking cessation is essential when treating smoker patients. Objective: to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of postgraduate residents from various specialties at the Santo Tomás University, and their relationship with sociodemographic characteristics regarding support for smoking cessation. Materials and methods: an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 98 residents from different dental specialties, they completed a questionnaire consisting of 8 questions to assess knowledge, 5 focused on attitudes, and 4 on practices. The questionnaire was validated by experts in the field and was administered both virtually through a QR code by the GoogleForms platform and physically through printed surveys. Data was analyzed using univariate analysis with absolute frequency and percentage tests, and bivariate analysis using Fisher's exact test, with a statistical significance of p<0.005. Results: participants were divided into 62% female and 38% male, across four specialties. Most respondents (53%) came from socioeconomic stratum four. In the knowledge section, most participants fell into the low and medium categories, totaling 85%. About the attitudes, 37% were classified as high, and 38% correspond to the practices category, also classified as high.
