Summary: | In the last 5 years, the city of Medellín recorded the highest number of suicides associated with mental disorders of the country. Most of the cases are due to unfavorable social and economic conditions, to different forms of violence and to the consumption of psychoactive substances, which are conditions that are present in the city. The coverage of mental health care in the city of Medellin is not very inclusive and the required infrastructure for the treatment of different disorders is insufficient and inadequate. The objective of this study is to understand the relationship between architecture and psychiatric interventions, to be able to propose strategies that contribute to the improvement of the treatment and social reintegration for people with mental disorders, from the spatial composition. To this end, these strategies will be applied in the architectural design of a health equipment that complements the current coverage of the city and that provides attention to users who present the following pathologies: Neurotic disorders Affective disorders Behavioral disordersIn this context, the equipment will be developed in one of the neighborhoods with the highest rate of mental disorders in the city. The project’s lot will present diversity in open spaces, green zones and easy access to the former, and efficient structure of mobility and public service. Taking this into consideration, a program that responds to the gradual phases of treatment will be designed, which retains the landscape as a primary part of it and that possesses architectural strategies based on shapes, textures and colors that effectively contribute to the patient health improvement. |
