Description
Summary:A problem is detected in the production process of pipeline extrusion in the company Corema (S.A.S). During 2015, the 11.58% of the total kilograms produced correspond to non-conforming product (PNC). It is classified in this way because it is a product that does not meet the requirements of the standards which the company is certified, such as NTC 1746, NTC 4585-2, Resolution 1166 of June 20th 2006 and ISO 9001: 2008, therefore it is considered as waste. The objective of this project is to reduce the percentage of PNC, by implementing Lean Six Sigma (LSS), based on the DMAIC tool, which comprises five phases, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. Based on this model of continuous improvement was possible to identify the root causes of the problem, and for the last year incurred costs of 328,204,183 COP which 74.5% were associated with defects caused by incorrect marking. By implementing Lean tools and Japanese philosophy, the non-conforming product was reduced from 11.58% to 7.70% with an real savings associated 13'338.355 COP in May 2016 compared to the same period last year, and the projected annual saving is 395'006.803 COP based on the target set at the beginning of the project, it is expected to reach a 4.60% of non-conforming product. In this regard, it can say that with statistical monitoring and implementation of Lean tools is possible to determine the root causes of the problems, solve them and standardize the improvements, bringing an end to some of the causes of variation in the non-conforming product in Corema.
