Summary: | The present investigation is about the risk factors and protective factors of suicide in adolescents in Colombia, in which 30 primary and secondary references were reviewed, among them; books, research to choose a degree, scientific, literary articles, texts of empirical theorists and original research in the databases of Dialnet, Redalyc, Scielo, Google Scholar. Keywords were used, such as: Risk Factors, Protective Factors, and Teen Suicide. In addition, only the research carried out in Colombia and reported in the last decade of the year 2009 to 2019 was taken into account. The main results were that the risk factors are multifactorial, which are evident in the social, family, and psychological fields. and biological; and the protective factors evidenced were psychoeducation as a suicide prevention tool, which works on self-esteem, self-concept, self-regulation, joy, self-control, love for life, among others; being these the most present in adolescents before the protection against suicide. Concluding in this way that one of the great risk factors is ignoring the risks surrounding suicidal behavior in adolescents, whereby psychoeducation is part of one of the best strategies to combat this risk and generate better support networks.
