Description
Summary:At present, Colombia lacks programs for the implementation of textile recycling, whether for the benefit of large, small or medium-sized companies. That is why much of the fast fashion directly affects the circular economy and certainly the environment, based on denim one of the textiles with higher water and dye requirements at the time of production. Many fast fashion brands produce millions of pieces of denim every year, in order to massify the sale and unnecessary manufacture of one of the most harmful materials for the planet, but one that is most used by fashion every day. That is why Kintsugi’s objective is to take advantage of disused jeans to give them a new opportunity, whether they are functional or different. This project considers the deconstruction of the material and the rethinking of silhouettes more to aesthetics and less conventional. In this way we can change the perspective of buyers and consumers of denim. Several proposals were made in order to inform the population sample of the importance of implementing awareness when dressing, and why it is time to change the linear habits that have had the fashion for many decades in Colombia with respect to fast fashion. It is for this reason that textile recycling is taken as the main objective to promote awareness in the country. The reuse and implementation of this activity would have great benefits, not only environmental but also economic, also approaching new and great challenges for designers and their brands when implementing sustainable design and circular economy.
