Summary:This article is descriptive and correlational as it establishes the factors associated with the suicidal risk and coping typologies in adolescents from 14 to 17 years old in 10 academic institutions in the city of Ibagué. Applying the Plutchik Suicidal Risk Scale and the Modified Coping Strategy Scale (EEC-M) in 850 students, in order to characterize the sociodemographic variables of the evaluated population, which contributes to determining the factors associated with the suicidal risk, where it identified that 74.8% of women present a suicidal risk in the city of Ibagué, showing the highest percentage in the 9th commune with 26.1%. Moreover, it established that the coping strategies in men of aggressive reaction, cognitive and emotional avoidance, and in women the emotional avoidance strategies, aggressive reaction, cognitive avoidance, and autonomy are statistically significant. Finally, statistically significant differences were obtained in the coping strategies of problem-solving, social support, waiting, emotional avoidance, professional support, aggressive reaction, positive revaluation, and autonomy in adolescents
