Summary:The term IoT refers to the interaction and communication among billions of devices that produce and exchange data related to objects (ie, things) in the real world [1]. It is necessary to include IoT in undergraduate engineering following the global trend for project-based education. In this document, we present the details of a pedagogical exercise to encourage the creation of IoT devices. The strategy consists of workshops with a project-based approach, which begin by addressing the challenges, and the design of laboratory experiments with available resources. It also includes feedback from students about the learning experience with 100% results in the field of interest in the laboratories.
