Summary: | It is a fact that the waste and the disarticulation of natural ecosystems with the urban side is a major problem that many Latin-American cities have to deal with. Among these is Cartagena de Indias, which despite having a great potential for urban development as a ‘‘water city’’, there are not spaces that articulate natural ecosystems (protection zones, water bodies) with the rest of the city, specially the most important one: La Ciénaga de la Virgen. As a starting point to think and create solutions, the project BIOCORE: Parque Interpretativo. Del Ecosistema de la Cienaga de la Virgen proposes an articulation between the Ecosystem and the communities located on the south eastern edge (which are the most affected), and the rest of the city. For this purpose, the research process was managed by a scale of systems Macro, Meso and Micro. In Macro scale the problem was identified and diagnosed, to then create applicable strategies in Meso scale, where we propose core activities in the urban-architectural design that respond to the process of solving the problem through the stated objectives, and finally in micro scale we developed modules of activities that allow the reactivation and dynamization of the economy of the zone, and, in turn, it would return the importance and attractiveness to this water ecosystem, which could serve as a support for the community. |
