Description
Summary:The urban architectural program proposed below was designed for downtown Medellín, an area currently congested by vehicle traffic, informal points of sale and high concentration of people, where pedestrians have lost importance in recent years, accommodating their circulation to narrow and dangerous areas. In order to modify the aforementioned situation, the present research work was begun with the purpose of recovering the public space of the zone, providing safety to the pedestrian and providing self-sustainable spaces that allow for a decrease in the rates of particulate matter in the zone. For the development of the project began with an investigation of referents of cities where public spaces had been transformed, to analyze the proposals of value, sustainability and programs delivered, in order to create a compilation of ideas and factors to be taken into account during the development of the transformation program for the city center of Medellin. Subsequently, the area was defined, focusing on the neuralgic centers, that is to say, where there is greater concentration of people, connectivity with public transportation and shopping centers. Additionally, the delimited zone is selected by the mayor's office to initiate a process of transformation, which makes ideal an architectural proposal for the recovery of the space. After defining the work area, the key variables to be taken into account were determined, such as the available area, the use of technology that would allow for the self-sustainability of the space, which is why we researched the mechanism of energy collection and rainwater use, which would give the project a focus not only social but also environmental, thus giving the city self-sustainable projects that conserve resources for future generations and use the waste emitted in an efficient way. The urban architectural program then focuses on the transformation of downtown Medellín through the implementation of pedestrian spaces, the incorporation of an air space with solar energy technology, intelligent floors in pavegen which generate electricity from passage and tree planting for air purification
