Este proyecto analiza y reformula el polígono Estación Villa, ubicado en el centro de Medellín, donde la problemática actual muestra una progresiva decadencia de esta zona. El abandono de la administración municipal en este lugar ha permitido que diferentes actores se beneficien de estos espacios haciendo de ellos su nuevo hogar. La invasión del espacio público alejó paulatinamente a los primeros residentes del sector y fomentó la inseguridad y la decadencia; convirtiendo finalmente al polígono en un foco de delincuencia del centro de la ciudad. A partir de esta investigación, se desarrollan una serie de estrategias proyectuales que mejoran el polígono a nivel de espacio público y privado, cambian el uso del suelo y revalorizan el Centro fundacional de Medellín a través de la renovación urbana y el aprovechamiento de su centralidad; por medio de la creación de nuevos senderos y pasajes peatonales, centros de manzana, amplios espacios de circulación, zonas verdes y arborización que mejoran el paisaje y el mobiliario urbano. Todos estos elementos mejorarán las condiciones del lugar y ofrecerán una mejor calidad de vida a los residentes y transeúntes de esta parte de la ciudad, para su estancia y permanencia. Por lo anterior, se presenta una propuesta de redefinición de Estación Villa, como adición al Plan Parcial y como alternativa al desarrollo del proyecto de rehabilitación del centro de la ciudad para su aplicación en futuros procesos de renovación urbana en beneficio de los ciudadanos. |

The carelessness of the municipal administration in this area has allowed different actors to benefit from these spaces, turning them into their new home. The invasion of public space gradually pushed the initial residents of the sector away and fostered insecurity and decay, ultimately turning the polygon into a hotspot of crime in the city center. Based on this research, a series of design strategies are developed to improve the polygon at the level of public and private space, change land use, and revitalize the original center of Medellín through urban renewal and the leveraging of its centrality. This involves creating new pedestrian paths, block cores, spacious circulation areas, green zones, and tree planting that enhance the landscape and urban furniture. All these elements will improve the conditions of the place and offer a better quality of life for residents and passersby in this part of the city during their stay and residence.
