Summary: | The purpose of this work was to conduct a documentary review of research related to the mental health of Ibero-American college students, published between 2010 and 2018, afterwards, thus gathering the biopsychosocial aspects that are part of protective factors and influential predisposing factors on development of psychopathological pictures, such as: addictions, anxiety, depression and suicidal behaviors; found in the EBSCO, SciencieDirect, Pubmed, Springer, Redalyc and Dialnet databases. In the results, the main predisposing factor is avoidant coping behaviors against different stress situations; and as protective factors are highlighted interpersonal relationships, self-care habits such as exercise, sleep and healthy eating, different behaviors that are part of the spheres of vital functioning. The findings of this article can contribute to the development of intervention strategies that seek to modify the predisposing factors and promote programs that favor the knowledge and strengthening of protective factors of mental health in university students. |
