Summary: | The present work of investigation has for objective to understand the experience of existential anxiety in a person who has been a victim of the armed conflict in Colombia from an existential humanist approach, using the phenomenological hermeneutic method, giving to know how is the experience of anxiety, how it faces it and which is the sense of this experience. The technique used to collect information was the open-ended in-depth interview, with which, through the co-investigator's speech, it was found that the generating focus of her anxious experience is her economic situation and the family difficulties that such a situation brings with it, which threatens her centered values and those aspects of importance in her life (May, 1983). Regarding the experience of anxiety, the co-investigator recurrently experiences a neurotic confrontation with anxiety, due to the fact that she constantly uses mechanisms to avoid responsibility, either by denying her responsibility or by displacing it towards others, thus protecting herself from the anguish of individuation that implies experiencing a way out from the protection of her family, pretending to face the experience of existential isolation, supposing a limitation in her potentialities and a lack of meaning, which causes in the co-investigator frustration or a feeling of vacuity due to her inability to contact her desires and to affirm them at will according to her life project (May, 2000) |
