Description
Summary:This article portrays the experience derived from the Masters in Education’s graduation project Formal application of popular songs in English by teachers at San Buenaventura University (campus Cali) as a learning tool to work pronunciation and grammar in a course of English at that institution”. This research was developed taking into consideration a group of students from Early Childhood Education who was taking the 3rd level of English out of 7 they must take. The experience intends to apply a model that has been non-formally employed in different stages of language learning, in order to verify its efficacy with EFL learners and to multiply the experience within languages teachers. Since listening is the first skill people regularly develop, the project followed the course’s syllabus, performed diagnostic evaluations before and after the use of the material in class. All in all, the group’s academic performance improved mainly due to the impact exerted on the students’ motivation and to the overcome of attitudinal barriers.
