Summary: | The paper describes a case study of a 43-year-old female patient, Venezuelan migrant, referred to therapeutic treatment with a three-month evolution. The patient identifies couple conflict and emotional self-management as problem areas. Symptoms of problems related to the primary support group V61.10 (Z63.0) conflictive relationship with the spouse or partner are identified; some symptoms of depression were also identified, but she does not meet all the diagnostic criteria for a major depressive episode. The objective was to analyze the effects of the application of a cognitive-behavioral treatment aimed at reducing the symptomatology. The evaluation was carried out by means of a semi-structured interview, Zung Depression Scale - ZDS, which yielded an initial score of 54/80, indicating mild depression, self-records and the WHODAS 2.0 instrument, which evaluates the level of functioning in six life domains; the patient's score did not show disability, result obtained 38/180. In the patient studied, cognitive distortions were identified, manifested in thoughts of maximization, minimization, selective abstraction, negative vision of the future and arbitrary inferences. Therefore, a cognitive-behavioral treatment was implemented, which had as therapeutic goals to achieve psychoeducation on the nature of emotions, awareness of emotions, cognitive reappraisal, training in problem solving and training in emotion regulation. With the intervention, as evidenced in the pretest-posttest evaluation, the main objective was achieved, which was the reduction of depressive symptomatology. |
