Summary:During the last years, there has been a great interest, in our country for the issues relating to the functioning of the brain and the construction of mind, that is to say, the physical structure and the processes it generates and which make possible the appearance of more and more complex ways of thinking It could be deduced that this interest sprang and springs even today – since it is still an unsolved issue – from the restlessness and worry of researchers and instructors of how to generate new strategies which contribute to the development of skills which the new generations need, in order to successfully face the world of uncertainties, produced by the social changes and the technological progress. This current article aims at showing some elements which let us approach the nature of the critical thinking and explore these concerns: Which are its components? What kinds of school contexts encourage it? Which are the processes and the challenges of today's school?; as well as other important issues
