Description
Summary:The current article is one of the results of the research paper entitled “Public Policies for the Management of the Solid Wastes in the Aburra Valley,” carried out by the Right, Culture and City Research Group at Faculty of Law at Saint Bonaventure University, Medellin branch. Its purpose is to explain that the materialization of the right to a safe environment can only be feasible if the environmental issue is understood from a systemic approach and the environmental pedagogy is much more used than its regulations, since with it, it will be feasible the consolidation of new values and the transformation of realities about the protection of the environment. Owing to the fact that the apparition of environmental issues is linked to the complex interaction between man, society and nature and the study of this complexity can serve as the starting point toward the search of adequate strategies to reach a sustainable relationship between the natural systems and the social systems. For this, education becomes an essential tool in the process of making of attitudes and behaviors, through which individuals and community become aware of their environment and make up knowledge, values and the competencies necessary to act, articulated to the natural system.
