Theleatherindustryisone of themainsources of odorsensorsnationwide, the use of chemicalssuch as sulfur and chromium are triggers of gas production, whichthe original emission of thesmell, accordingtoitscharacteristics, Can be perceivedbythesmell of the human being, affectingtheirquality of life (1, 3).El presente estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar el impacto sobre la calidad de vida y los efectos en salud asociados a la exposición de olores ofensivos provenientes de las curtiembres, en los habitantes de dos veredas del municipio de Villapinzón, las cuales se dedican a transformar la piel del animal en un material inerte que no se descompondrá y podrá ser empleado en marroquinería, dichos olores son el resultado del uso de sustancias químicas y obtención de residuos orgánicos durante este proceso (1). El estudio se realizará en Villapinzón - Cundinamarca, municipio ubicado a 80 km al norte de la ciudad de Bogotá, que tiene como principal actividad económica la industria de las curtiembres, las cuales se encuentran ubicadas en 3 veredas del municipio (Quincha, San Pedro y Casablanca) sobre la cuenca del río Bogotá, el estudio se llevará a cabo en una muestra heterogénea de 2 de las veredas nombradas y posteriormente se comparará la calidad de vida con una población no expuesta (2). Por lo tanto la población a estudio se encuentra dividida en dos grupos: individuos expuestos y no expuestos a los olores ofensivos en el municipio de Villapinzón, los datos se recolectarán a través del diseño de un instrumento de morbilidad sentida y exposición a olores ofensivos, previamente validado, mediante prueba piloto y alfa de Cronbach, para obtener resultados que permitan evaluar los efectos en la calidad de vida de los habitantes tanto expuestos y no expuestos a la emisión de olores ofensivos de las curtiembres en Villapinzón (1).
