Description
Summary:The main objective of this report was to sift nutritionally the two groups of people who attend the Elderly Adult Program in a neighborhood of the locality of Engativá in the city of Bogota, Colombia, in the first period of 2017, through a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study. In order to achieve its purpose, The Mini Nutritional Assessment, an instrument aimed at determining nutritional status in the degree of malnutrition, was applied, in the same way, determining the excess nutritional through the body mass index, at forty five elderly adults who participated in this research, thus establishing the nutritional risk of the population. The data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel 2016, with subsequent characterization of the population in gender, and age group, identifying their nutritional risk in each group studied, through frequency distribution, using the Statistical Program Epidat 4.2. As a result it was obtained that there was greater participation of the Group B. The majority of the population corresponds to a female gender, since the Group B represents 80.7% and in the Group A 73.6%. It was found that men have a greater risk of malnutrition with 40% and it was the gender with smaller number of participants. In group malnutrition it was found that there is more risk in the Group B 61.54% and in the total population by age group it was found that the highest risk of malnutrition is between 77 and 82 years of age, with a 75%, and in the total population found a risk of malnutrition is 37.78%. The risk of obesity was found only in two people in this study population because the first one had a BMI equal to 35kg/m2 and the second one had a BMI of 37kg/m2 which, with the nutritional assessment of the MNA, found a normal nutritional status and risk of malnutrition respectively.
