Summary:	The activity of making bricks also known in the region as craft work has been an important agent for the development of the economy of Sogamoso city; it is due to the high degree of informality that is used in the process of making brick. However this practice has contributed to the emergence of significant environmental problems in the city. Resulting in negative and positive impacts, since the processes of this brickyards are leaving consequences about the physical and environmental processes and about socials aspects too which have impact in the territorial system of this city. Therefore, the principal objective of this research is to create a diagnosis that allows identifying how, which, and in what way is the impact of the activity of making bricks taking into account positives and negatives impacts in the territory of Sogamoso city. The generation of the diagnosis has a previous methodological phase, which starts from the application of methods of evaluation and an assessment of environmental impacts as a fundamental basis for the identification of those factors which are involved in this case and subsequently, the factors that affect the territory. Secondly, the changes and the spatiotemporal dynamics produced by the brickyards are going to be determined by means of a multitemporal analysis taking into account the territorial system of the city. Finally the direct impact of the activity of brickyards is going to be established taking into account relevant dimensions which make part of the territory and development of Sogamoso city.
