Summary: | In the village "Canelos" in the municipality of Florencia-Caqueta, is reported to the Clinic Large Animals at the University of the Amazonia, the case of a horse of race Colombian Creole, with 8 years old and used as a working animal in the "El Sinai" ranch with a granulomatous injury in the chest from about two years ago, treating repetitively with acetonide traimcinolona as glucocorticoid anti-inflammatory, used commonly to treat habronemiasis, which was the initial presumptive diagnosis during the complementary examinations performed histopathology and structures identifies as compatible with Oomycetes, which Grocott staining is identified as Pythium spp., and 45 days pregnancy is diagnosed, condition unlikely given the treatment with glucocorticoid. Treatment homeopathic immunostimulation and surgical resorption is initiated by techniques with heat copper materials over the injury, planned in several stages, after 6 surgical sessions with recurrences of "kunkers" and abortion of uterine product, it proceeds to perform euthanasia to avoid therapeutic obstinacy. At necropsy are in addition granulomatous skin ulcer, fibrous lesions in the pectoral muscle fascia but without the presence of hyphae or some other structure compatible with pythiosis. |
