Summary:This paper aims to propose mitigation strategies based on the calculation of the Carbon Footprint of the North and South Campus of the University of Applied and Environmental Sciences U.D.C.A in the years 2014 – 2015, so that these are the basis and guide for the mitigation of emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) generated by the activities carried out at the University. For the calculation of the institutional Carbon footprint, followed the guidelines of the "Corporate Standard of Accounting and Report - GHG PROTOCOL " and NTC - ISO 14064-1, and there was applied the method of Factors of Emission Documented across the application of the Tool of Calculation CAEM. First the emission sources of greenhouse gases were identified across a format of diagnostic, identifying a total 13 sources of GHG emissions, later there was realized the summary of information related to the information of activity in the sources identified (consumptions of natural gas, energy, etc.), and immediately there was applied the Tool of Calculation CAEM. The calculated Carbon footprint was of 582,14 tonCO2eq/year in 2014 and in 2015 was 511,58 tonCO2eq/year, the sources that had a high percentage of incident in the footprint, they were the treatment of waste water and energy. According to the results, were a few alternatives mitigation of GHG emissions, the measures of mitigation proposed consider aspects like practices of alternative mobility, good practices of maintenance and operation in energy consumption systems, replacement of LED light bulbs, recovery of methane to generate energy and planting of native species.
