The indices of malnutrition,the valuation of the anthropometric parameters andthe responsibility of the health personnel regardingexecution and management of promotion and preventionprograms are important factors to analyze. This researchwas realized to know the effect of the Integrated AttentionthePrevalentIllnessofChildren (IMCI) strategy in the registration and classification of the nutritional state andtheunderstandingof caretakersofthetreatmentandthenourishingindicationsgiven,duringconsultationofControl of Growth and Development, signs of danger andconsultation of pursuit. The instruments proposed by thestrategywereusedandobservationsoftheconsultationanda verification of the execution by the caretaker of theinformation given by trained and not trained professionalswere made. The results indicate that in consultationwitha trained professional fora 31,8%,a nutritionalclassificationwas executedandintheconsultationwithnot qualified personnel it corresponded to 13,8%. 63% ofthe caretakerswhoattendedtheIMCIconsultationand58.6% without, mentioned correctly the indications whentocomeinsearchofhelp.The existenceofdifficultiesinthe comprehension of instructions was concluded, beingrelatedtothemomentoftheapplicationofthe strategy,sinceatthetimeoftheresearchveryfewprofessionalshadbeentrained. |
