The Effect of Trabeculae Carneae on Left Ventricular Diastolic Compliance: Improvement in compliance with trabecular cutting

The role of trabeculae carneae in modulating left ventricular (LV) diastolic compliance remains unclear. The objective of this study was to determine the contribution of trabeculae carneae to the LV diastolic compliance. LV pressure-volume compliance curves were measured in six human heart explants...

The objective of this study was to determine the contribution of trabeculae carneae to the LV diastolic compliance. LV pressure-volume compliance curves were measured in six human heart explants from patients with LV hypertrophy at baseline and following trabecular cutting. The effect of trabecular cutting was also analyzed with finite-element model (FEM) simulations. Our results demonstrated that LV compliance improved after trabecular cutting (p<0.001). Finite-element simulations further demonstrated that stiffer trabeculae reduce LV compliance further, and that the presence of trabeculae reduced the wall stress in the apex. In conclusion, we demonstrate that integrity of the LV and trabeculae is important to maintain LV stiffness and loss in trabeculae leads to more LV compliance.application/pdfengJournal of Biomechanical Engineering;Vol., 139, No. 3, Mar., 1 2017, Articulo 031012Derechos Reservados - Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientaleshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/restrictedAccessAtribución-NoComercial-CompartirIgual 4.0 Internacional (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16echttps://asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/biomechanical/article-abstract/139/3/031012/371155/The-Effect-of-Trabeculae-Carneae-on-Left?redirectedFrom=fulltextVentrículos cardíacosDiástoleModelos cardiovascularesMiocardioEstrés MecánicoDiastoleHeart VentriclesModels, CardiovascularMyocardiumStress, MechanicalThe Effect of Trabeculae Carneae on Left Ventricular Diastolic Compliance: Improvement in compliance with trabecular cuttingArtículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTexthttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/ARThttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85PublicationLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain; charset=utf-814775https://repository.udca.edu.co/bitstreams/5b47e635-3bcb-45b6-bc76-474ac190bf0b/downloadf661acf14bedbf9f5d13897a0387e751MD52ORIGINALThe Effect of Trabeculae.pdfThe Effect of Trabeculae.pdfapplication/pdf1877155https://repository.udca.edu.co/bitstreams/aafb53c5-75f8-4621-96c5-eb67f36c477b/download6aee4a92de90bf73cd2fe57dbcf9210bMD51TEXTThe Effect of Trabeculae.pdf.txtThe Effect of Trabeculae.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain46242https://repository.udca.edu.co/bitstreams/ea23ec6a-b214-4251-a8f4-04aa4880243e/download70757747d0020012648c5a4cf5c91afeMD53THUMBNAILThe Effect of Trabeculae.pdf.jpgThe Effect of Trabeculae.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg5545https://repository.udca.edu.co/bitstreams/1f82d46e-ed5a-4bbf-8d21-95c8cff3fe97/downloade33ea9bd6ea63720895a7b3821b09dd1MD5411158/2410oai:repository.udca.edu.co:11158/24102024-05-09 14:40:22.393https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/Derechos Reservados - Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientalesrestrictedhttps://repository.udca.edu.coRepositorio - Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientales UDCA.bdigital@metabiblioteca.com
