Buitrago Espitia, Jorge Enrique, dir. The results of studies consulted about speed training show that there is a high correlation between the swimmer's maximum speed, maximum strength and explosive force. The research consulted has analyzed speed from the concept of critical performance intensity. However, there is a need to investigate the relationship of strength, the response of energy-gaining lactate concentrations, and the competitive performance of finswimmers. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of a strength training plan on competitive test results, strength levels, and lactate control in finswimmers. Methodology: High performance athletes from the Bogotá league are analyzed (n = 20; women n = 14 and men n = 6). Four tests are used to obtain performance information during the training cycle using an Encoder device to measure maximum strength, an Axon jump platform to measure explosive strength, lactate measurements and time in 50-meter surface competition. A twelve-week strength training plan was implemented, the results obtained show improvement in power in Abalakov, Squat Jump, Countermovement jump, maximum strength and time in competition. Finned swimmers can improve peak strength and power levels through specific strength work performed in the land environment that contributes to improved performance during competition.
