Description
Summary:The quality of sleep is defined by the subjective harmony of an individual sleeping well during nighttime. Ageing has demonstrated to have a strong relation with the decrease on the quality of sleep, certain factors can worsen this situation the sleep such as obesity, vulnerability and fragility. The alterations of sleep in Colombia is 49% of the population. The objective was to associate the quality of sleep, the anthropometric parameters and sociodemographic in rural populations of Colombia. A descriptive study cross-section was completed with 124 participants from two rural municipalities in Cundinamarca. The information collected includes stats concerning sociodemographic and anthropometric parameters. In 82.3% of the participants were noted with a bad quality of sleep. Following the application of ICSP, 50% of the participants the quantity of hours slept are insufficient for a quality sleep. The population is found with an IMC range of normality with a median of 24,0 Kg/m2; from the participants studied 70, 16 were women. Regarding the anthropometric measurements, no direct association was found between BMI and sleep quality, while the abdominal perimeter was above the normal range, and there was a direct negative correlation between the brachial perimeter and the ICSP, a finding that could be explain greater alterations in sleep quality associated with vulnerability and fragility. Future investigations are recommended to further determine the relations within the determined diagnostics.
