Description
Summary:Introduction: The life cycle of human beings is made up of four periods or elementary stages: childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. It can be evidenced that in childhood man is considered to be dependent on his caregivers, but as time passes he becomes a being with independence in different aspects of life, which is a product of growth and development in different areas of life until reaching the period of old age, where the functional independence that the person has obtained is considerably affected by a natural process detrimental to the functions of the human being. In this sense it is necessary to carry out various activities that decrease the effect of age and delay the body's aging process; The objective of this research was to determine the effect of a Physical Conditioning Program on functional autonomy in the Elderly of the Hogar San José in the municipality of Miraflores Boyacá. Methodology: For this, a physical conditioning program was developed during 12 weeks, with a frequency of 3 times per week. With a sample of 15 older adults who met the inclusion criteria, with an average age of 65.64 ± 75.58; and to which was applied as an evaluation measure in a before and after the program, the test of the walk test of 6 minutes. Results: The analysis of the results reveals that between the pretest and the posttest a bilateral significance was obtained. p = 0.99 (for all p≤0.05). Conclusion: which allows to determine that the 12-week program of physical conditioning has no effect on the functional autonomy of the elderly.
