Characteristics of Informal Settlements under High Flood Risk: An Evaluation of Environmental Issues and Technological Appropriation

The article, from the results of the study “Characterization of the housing located in the edges of the Rio Otún, urban zone of the Municipalities of Pereira and Dosquebradas ", exposes the current conditions of the accessions mentioned in the study of case.To know and to analyze the processes of formation and consolidation of the informal housing that occupies the edges of the river Otún in his urban section from the constructive aspects and his relation with the urban development and socio-economic situation of the families that they live, they are the central point; The results appear as recommendations for the creation of criteria and mechanisms of intervention of vulnerable zones for hydrological risk sustainable for the region. The description and analysis of the use and the appropriation of the materials in this community, allows to extend the discussion concerning the legitimacy and the technological conditions that affect in the increase of the vulnerability of the construction.
