(Programa de Psicología), Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2023.Este estudio transversal no experimental analizó la relación entre la aptitud física, el sobrepeso-obesidad y el control inhibitorio en 144 jóvenes. Se compararon medidas de composición corporal y su relación con la aptitud física y el control inhibitorio, así como la mediación de la composición corporal entre estas. Los resultados mostraron que los participantes con una aptitud física excelente y con clasificación normal en la circunferencia cintura cadera tuvieron un menor tiempo de respuesta. Por otro lado, aquellos con una aptitud física deficiente mostraron efectos en las medidas de composición corporal y menores aciertos en tareas de control inhibitorio. No se encontró evidencia suficiente que mostrara la mediación de la composición corporal entre la aptitud física y el control inhibitorio. Abstract: This non-experimental cross-sectional study examined the relationship between physical fitness, overweight-obesity, and inhibitory control in 144 young individuals. Measures of body composition were compared in relation to physical fitness and inhibitory control, as well as the mediation role of body composition between them. The results showed that participants with excellent physical fitness and normal waist-to-hip ratio had lower response times. On the other hand, those with poor physical fitness exhibited effects on body composition measures and lower accuracy in inhibitory control tasks.
