| Summary: | This article describes the premises of Biomimicry as an alternative design methodology and the results of its use in the creation of sustainable consumerproducts. Biomimicry is the practice of applying the lessons from natural systems in the creation of environmentally friendly technologies. When applied in the field of design, it focuses on understanding, apprehension and emulation strategies used by living things with the intention of generating sustainable solutions. Conventional design methodologies are influenced by accelerated consumption societies, which involve immediate solutions of necessities without a valid projection in the future. As a response, Biomimicry ensures sustainable, extensive and generational development. |
