Verdaderamente aquel personaje llamado Jesús, oriundo de Nazaret en la Palestina romanizada de comienzos de nuestra era, causó tal impacto entre sus contemporáneos con sus acciones, sus palabras, actitudes, enseñanzas.... con su vida, que desencadenó un movimiento que ha sobrevivido a su muerte ya por más de 2000 años. Ya on sus comienzos, en medio del fanatismo religioso de sus congéneres, y luego a pesar del frío escepticismo filosófico, de la incredulidad religiosa, de la relajación de las costumbres y del afán de ritos exóticos en que se debatía la sociedad del Imperio Romano, cuando aparece Jesús, surge el Cristianismo que transformó, por así decirlo, la conciencia y el corazón de los hombres. La persona humana redimida adquiere a los ojos del Cristianismo un precio incomparable, que junto con la enseñanza de la comunidad de origen y destino de todos los hombres, contribuyó a grabar y propagar los principios esenciales de libertad e igualdad. Desde el instante en que el hombre aparece como criatura predilecta de Dios, dotada de alma inmortal, no es ya posible admitir lo que constituía uno de los puntales de la sociedad pagana: la posesión del esclavo, de un hombre por otro hombre. El Cristianismo abre a este horizontes insospechados y hace que el ser humano arme al prójimo como asi mismo y descubra en el amor de Dios la razón de poder sacrificar su propia vida en bien de los demás. La formación de la familia, tal como se conoce en las modernas sociedades, es también obra del Cristianismo, y de la cual ha hecho éste el núcleo básico, la célula primordial e indestructible de la sociedad civil. Aún hoy, la persona y la enseñanza de Jesús no ha perdido vigencia ni atractivo. Hemos visto por la historia desmoronarse grandes culturas e imperios, pero el Cristianismo se ha mantenido incólume ante sus más impresionantes crisis internas y los más devastadores ataques externos. Por eso, al preguntamos sobre los orígenes de este movimiento, descubrimos tres momentos que han dado inicio a las tres grandes teorías a partir de las cuales puede entenderse cómo empezó a desarrollarse el Cristianismo: El Jesús histórico, la actividad apostólica de Saulo de Tarso y el acontecimiento de la Resurrección.The enormous influence that Christianity has had on the constitution of Western culture is undeniable. Already in its beginnings, in the midst of the religious fanaticism of its peers, and then despite the cold philosophical skepticism, religious disbelief, the relaxation of customs and the desire for exotic rites in which the society of the Roman Empire was debated, When Jesus appears, Christianity emerges that transformed, so to speak, the conscience and hearts of men. The redeemed human person acquires an incomparable price in the eyes of Christianity, which together with the teaching of the community of origin and destiny of all men, contributed to recording and propagating the essential principles of freedom and equality. From the moment man appears as God's favorite creature, endowed with an immortal soul, it is no longer possible to admit what constituted one of the pillars of pagan society: the possession of the slave, of one man by another man. Christianity opens unsuspected horizons to this and makes human beings arm their neighbors as themselves and discover in the love of God the reason to be able to sacrifice their own life for the good of others. The formation of the family, as it is known in modern societies, is also the work of Christianity, and which has made it the basic nucleus, the primordial and indestructible cell of civil society. Even today, the person and teaching of Jesus has not lost its validity or attractiveness. Throughout history we have seen great cultures and empires crumble, but Christianity has remained unscathed in the face of its most impressive internal crises and the most devastating external attacks.
