Las estrategias de afrontamiento son un factor importante en la forma en que las personas con VIH enfrentan los desafíos asociados con la enfermedad. El objetivo de este documento es revisar la literatura existente sobre las estrategias de afrontamiento y su relación con la calidad de vida en pacientes con VIH, y proporcionar recomendaciones para mejorar la calidad de vida de estas personas. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura existente sobre las estrategias de afrontamiento y su relación con la calidad de vida en pacientes con VIH. Se utilizaron bases de datos electrónicas para buscar estudios relevantes, y se seleccionaron aquellos que cumplían con ciertos criterios predefinidos. Los resultados sugieren que las estrategias de afrontamiento adaptativas y centradas en el problema se asocian con una mejor calidad de vida en pacientes con VIH, mientras que las estrategias evitativas y menos intensivas se asocian con una peor calidad de vida. Además, se identificaron áreas específicas donde se necesitan intervenciones para mejorar la calidad de vida, como el estigma, los síntomas físicos y psicológicos. Se concluye que, esta revisión destaca la importancia del uso efectivo de las estrategias de afrontamiento para mejorar la calidad de vida en pacientes con VIH. Se recomienda el desarrollo e implementación de intervenciones específicas para abordar los desafíos asociados con la enfermedad, y se enfatiza la necesidad de un enfoque centrado en el paciente para lograr mejores resultados. Abstract HIV is a disease that affects millions of people around the world and has a significant impact on their quality of life. Coping strategies are an important factor in how people with HIV cope with the challenges associated with the disease. The objective of this document is to review the existing literature on coping strategies and their relationship with quality of life in patients with HIV, and to provide recommendations to improve the quality of life of these people. A systematic review of the existing literature on coping strategies and their relationship with quality of life in patients with HIV was conducted. We used electronic databases to search for relevant studies, and selected those that met certain predefined criteria. The results suggest that adaptive and problem-focused coping strategies are associated with better quality of life in HIV patients, while avoidant and less intensive strategies are associated with poorer quality of life. In addition, specific areas where interventions are needed to improve quality of life were identified, such as stigma, physical and psychological symptoms. We conclude that this review highlights the importance of effective use of coping strategies to improve quality of life in people with HIV. The development and implementation of specific interventions to address the challenges associated with the disease is recommended, and the need for a patient-centered approach to achieve better outcomes is emphasized.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
