Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2013Para lograr un desenvolvimiento adecuado a través del medio, los procesos altamente complejos del control ejecutivo configuran las decisiones más complicadas para conseguir metas. Entre estos procesos, la supresión de interferencia descarta los estímulos irrelevantes que actúan como distractores. Esta variante de la inhibición fue el foco de atención en la presente investigación, la cual buscó observar la correlación existente entre la modulación estrogénica del control cognitivo inhibitorio y el ciclo ovulatorio con sus implicaciones hormonales. Más específicamente, el punto fundamental fue reconocer si existe alguna afectación del mecanismo de supresión de interferencia bajo ciertos niveles de la hormona estradiol en los distintos momentos del ciclo ovulatorio. Para hallar respuestas, se trabajó con 10 mujeres entre 18 y 26 años de edad, estudiantes de pregrado de la Universidad Católica de Pereira; la convocatoria se hizo a través un muestreo no probabilístico por voluntariado, y fueron seleccionadas mediante la aplicación del Test de Matrices Progresivas de Raven y el MINI. La determinación del momento hormonal se hizo con el 17 beta-Estradiol Saliva, que es un inmunoensayo tipo Elisa para determinar los niveles de estradiol. El procedimiento experimental se llevó a cabo con el Software para experimentación llamado Stop-Signal / Flanker Task, con el cual se hizo medición del desempeño en tareas cognitivas de ensayos Go y No-Go, en tres sesiones correspondientes a cada fase del ciclo menstrual. El análisis se hizo mediante un ANOVA de medidas repetidas factorial de los tiempos de reacción medios ajustados correspondientes a los ensayos Go de la Stop-Signal / Flanker Task. El análisis estuvo constituido por tres factores intrasujetos: Condición (Congruente, Neutral e Incongruente), Mano utilizada (Izquierda y Derecha), y Fase del ciclo ovulatorio (Menstrual, Folicular y Luteal). Los resultados arrojaron una disminución significativa del tiempo de reacción durante la fase folicular, que es donde el estradiol se encuentra en niveles altos, en comparación con la fase menstrual y la luteal. Estos resultados revelaron una correlación negativa entre los niveles de estradiol y la eficacia de la supresión de interferencia, concluyéndose que cuanto mayor es el nivel de estradiol, se suprime menos interferencia del medio, por lo que se descartan menos estímulos irrelevantes. /Abstract: To achieve a proper performance throughout the environment, high complex processes of executive control configure the most complicated decisions to achieve goals. Among these processes, interference suppression discards no-relevant stimuli which act as distractors. This variation of inhibition was the focus of attention in the present research, which sought to observe the correlation between estrogenic modulation of inhibitory cognitive control and the ovulatory cycle with its hormonal implications. More specifically, the fundamental goal was to recognize whether there is any affectation of the interference suppression mechanism under certain levels of Estradiol hormone at different moments of the ovulatory cycle. To finding these answers, researchers worked with ten female participants of 18-26 years old. The summons was made through voluntary subscription, and the ten women were selected by means of the Raven Test, and the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview. The recognition of the hormonal moment was made by means of the 17 beta-Estradiol Saliva, which is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of 17 beta-Estradiol in saliva. The experimental procedure was carried out with the experimentation Software named Stop-Signal/Flanker Task, with which was made the measure of participant’s performance on Go and No-Go cognitive tasks, on three sessions corresponding to each ovulatory cycle phase. The results analysis was made by means of ANOVA of the average reaction times corresponding to the Go trials. This analysis was constituted by three intra-subjective factors: condition (congruent, neutral and incongruent), hand used (left and right) and ovulatory cycle phase (menstrual, follicular and luteal). Results revealed a meaningful reduction of the reaction time during follicular phase, when estradiol is on high levels compared to menstrual and luteal phases.
