Since the mid-forties the dynamics of the city changes, the foundation of large firms, financed with the support of investors belonging to the elite groups of the city, those who participate and guide all decisions concerning economic and social development of the city, is passed to a model of individual and popular character, based on the emergence of small family businesses, funded from savings and income from employment. In this process themanufacturing activity plays a dynamic role for the entire sector generating high volume of employment and stimulating other industrial and commercial activities. In the article a difference is established, by the testimony of some leading businessmen, in three modalities in the emergence of apparel manufacturing firms in Pereira.
