Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2010El síndrome de burnout es un síndrome que aparece como consecuencia de un estrés prolongado en un ambiente laboral determinado, en los profesionales médicos es frecuente que este tipo de patología se presente, ello debido al contacto constante con otros y las implicaciones que tiene dicha profesión. El cuidado paliativo dentro de los profesionales médicos es un tipo de cuidado especial dado a paciente que se encuentran en situación de terminalidad, es decir que el pronóstico de vida es desfavorecedor, estos cuidados tienen como fin brindar una mejor calidad de vida al paciente en sus últimos días. Dicho personal hospitalario al entrar en contacto con situaciones de estrés, sufrimiento humano, toma de decisiones, entre otras, son propensos a desarrollar trastornos como el síndrome burnout. Este síndrome acarrea consecuencias a nivel físico, cognitivo, emociona y social que generan cambios en el comportamiento de las personas. Se ha encontrado que hay factores que influyen en el desarrollo del síndrome como largas jornadas labores, la toma de decisiones, la interacción entre los equipos de trabajo, entre otros. Por otro lado hay factores que impiden el desarrollo de éste como las maneras de de afrontar las situaciones, es aquí donde el presente documento pretende vislumbrar un concepto propuesto desde los modelos salutogénicos, el cual podría impedir y modular la aparición del síndrome en la población médica que tiene como campo de acción los cuidado paliativos. /Abstract: Burnout syndrome is a syndrome that appears as a consequence of prolonged stress in a specific work environment. This type of pathology frequently occurs in medical professionals, due to constant contact with others and the implications that said profession has. Palliative care within medical professionals is a type of special care given to patients who are terminally ill, that is, their life prognosis is unfavorable. The purpose of this care is to provide a better quality of life to the patient in their last days. Said hospital personnel, upon coming into contact with situations of stress, human suffering, decision-making, among others, are prone to developing disorders such as burnout syndrome. This syndrome has consequences on a physical, cognitive, emotional and social level that generate changes in people's behavior. It has been found that there are factors that influence the development of the syndrome such as long work hours, decision making, interaction between work teams, among others. On the other hand, there are factors that prevent its development, such as ways of dealing with situations.
