Gracias a dicha vinculación se inician investigaciones acerca de los beneficios que posee la terapia asistida con animales, presentándose como una opción de tratamiento que acompañe a las intervenciones convencionales. En la presente investigación se evaluaron las actitudes de los psicólogos clínicos de la Universidad Católica de Pereira frente a la terapia asistida con animales (N=78). Se evaluaron variables que se relacionan con las actitudes de los profesionales hacia la terapia. Se discuten los resultados obtenidos, donde se evidencia que en la mayoría de las ocasiones no hay relación con los referentes teóricos debido a múltiples factores que influyen sobre las actitudes del profesional. Throughout history it has been shown that the interaction between people and animals has changed because contemporary society develops processes of interaction with animals where they start to consider themselves as part of the family and social mediator. Thanks to this link, research is initiated on the benefits of assisted therapy with animals, presenting itself as a treatment option that accompanies conventional interventions. In the present investigation the attitudes of the clinical psychologists of the Catholic University of Pereira against the assisted therapy with animals (N = 78) were evaluated. Variables that relate to the attitudes of professionals towards therapy were evaluated.
