Los argumentos a favor de este objetivo educativo del siglo XXI se enfocan mayormente en sus implicaciones en la participación política dentro de sociedades democráticas, sin embargo, poco se examina su aporte para el Desarrollo Humano de las personas, que desde hace algunas décadas figura como objetivo hacia el cual los Estados han coordinado esfuerzos. El presente artículo explora la hipótesis según la cual potenciar el Pensamiento crítico permite ampliar las capacidades de una vida humanamente digna. La construcción conceptual parte de la revisión documental de antecedentes y de una hermenéutica orientada a hacer una selección justificada de dos referentes teóricos: la taxonomía del Pensamiento Crítico de Ennis y el enfoque de las capacidades para el Desarrollo Humano de Nussbaum. Ambas propuestas se cruzan, de manera general, a partir del concepto de razonabilidad común a las dos teorías, y de manera específica, a partir de las relaciones que se trazan entre las disposiciones del Pensamiento Crítico y las capacidades arquitectónicas del Desarrollo Humano (razón práctica y afiliación), en cuanto las primeras funcionan como condiciones de las segundas. La investigación ofrece elementos teóricos que permiten justificar la inclusión de la formación del Pensamiento Crítico dentro de políticas públicas educativas que propendan por el Desarrollo Humano de los ciudadanos./ Abstract : There is an agreement between pedagogues and teachers on the importance of promoting Critical Thinking in students. The arguments for this educational objective of the 21st century are mainly focused on its implications for political participation within democratic societies, however, its contribution to the Human Development of the people, which for some decades has been targeted towards which States have coordinated efforts, has been little examined. This article explores the hypothesis according to which to enhance Critical Thinking allows expanding the capabilities of a humanly dignified life. The conceptual construction is based on the documentary background check and a hermeneutic methodology oriented to make a justified selection of two theoretical references: Ennis' Critical Thought taxonomy and the Nussbaum’s Human Development capabilities approach. Both proposals intersect, in a general way, from the concept of reasonable common to the two theories, and specifically, from the relationships that are drawn between the dispositions of Critical Thinking and the architectural capabilities of Human Development (practical reason and affiliation), as the former are conditions of the latter.
