It is also argued thatthis is a structural phenomenon linked to supply conditions (demographicchanges and labor force participation degree) and demand (outsourcingcharacteristics of the local economy). It is also noted that in the issue of labormarket, qualitative imbalances expressed in clear conditions of gender inequalityconcur.En este trabajo se avanza en la explicación de los factores asociados a la problemática de desempleo que ha caracterizado al mercado laboral del Área Metropolitana Centro Occidente (AMCO) en los dos últimos decenios, para lo cual se revisa de manera comparada el comportamiento de las series de información laboral suministradas por el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadísticas (DANE). Se argumenta que este es un fenómeno estructural vinculado a condiciones de oferta (cambios demográficos y grados de participación laboral) y demanda (características de la tercerización de la economía local).
