The article moves in a quest to provide specific factors to the transformation in mathematics formation from the perspective of developing competenciesEste texto surge del proceso de investigación en torno a la influencia de las representaciones sociales (RS) sobre la evaluación matemática en el desarrollo de competencias, a partir del diálogo con estudiantes del último año de educación básica 9°. Alrededor del interrogante por la evaluación en matemáticas, se aplicó un análisis de contenido que posibilitó un mayor acercamiento y comprensión de las relaciones entre las categorías RS, evaluación matemática y desarrollo de competencias.
