Summary:This article presents an index to evaluate the digital situation of young rural students, entitled insidirjes, which integrates three aspects (access, use and favorable factors). For this purpose, after making a short outline of the digital component in the rural sector, the digital divide and its measurement is discussed, ending with a sketch of the index, accompanied by a test with 78 students from five rural schools. The new index is that, besides being designed for a specific population segment, focus on a narrow and utilitarian relationship between education and ICT, overcoming the simple access and use, and considering the favorable factors for digital inclusion.
