Summary:Is there a reason to teach history in the superior education? Considering the complexity that accompanies development on the last decades, it is necessary to reframe the urge of the historical studies in college, where they should be assumed a exercises for the development of cognitives abilities, as frames of the academic programs that allow the construction of historical marks for reasearch and, fundamentally, like a tool for the ethical and reflective formation that allows the student to contribute to the development of the national conscience. In the following lines we approach some characteristics that make difficult such a pedagogical exercise; a revision of its reason of being for the citizenship formation is also included.
