Este artículo busca establecer la importancia del desarrollo de una propuesta arquitectónica enmarcada en las necesidades de un mejoramiento de las condiciones sociales de los adultos mayores en el barrio Villas Santana de Pereira, por medio de la recopilación de información que permitirá analizar las condiciones de vulnerabilidad dadas por las problemáticas de exclusión social, enfermedad y pobreza presentes en la población adulta mayor de todo el país. De esta manera se podrá identificar las necesidades que evidencien la falta de una infraestructura adecuada que permita un envejecimiento activo para la población en general, por medio de un desarrollo espacial para la realización de actividades y dinámicas que mejoran las condiciones de salud físico-mental de los adultos, buscando la integración de esta población por medio de la participación en los procesos sociales del barrio Villa Santana de Pereira. Abstract: Currently, society is in a process of transformation due to the increase in the age of people, generating a change in the population pyramid where the number of people over 60 is increasing, this is the sum of the current conditions of old age, where there is a social conception on the part of the population in a negative way in front of this moment of life, for the perception of being a stage of little utility and production, displacing the social function of the elderly to a condition of consumer, sick and dependent, denying their productive capacities, their autonomy and the importance of their social role vis-à-vis the population. This article seeks to establish the importance of the development of an architectural proposal framed in the needs of an improvement of the social conditions of the elderly in the Villa Santana of Pereira neighborhood, through the collection of information that will analyze the vulnerability conditions given by the problems of social exclusion, disease and poverty present in the elderly population throughout the country. In this way, the needs that demonstrate the lack of an adequate infrastructure that allows active aging for the general population can be identified, through a spatial development for the realization of activities and dynamics that improve the physical-mental health conditions of adults, seeking the integration of this population through participation in the social processes of the Villa Santana of Pereira neighborhood.Universidad católica de Pereira.
