Due to this problems, the article presents arguments that support the following project´s hypothesis: i) a central component of this unemployment has structural characteristics, hence its treatment needs actions that exceed the shock politics dimension; ii) In the explaining process of the present conjuncture, demand factors explain the actual situation in the labor market; iii) in AMCO´s labor market is bigger the quantitative disequilibrium than the qualitative..Las estadísticas sobre desempleo reportadas por la encuesta de hogares del DANE muestran algunos elementos generales del mercado laboral del Área Metropolitana Centro Occidente (AMCO), tales como la persistencia de altas tasas de desempleo durante las dos últimas décadas y el empeoramiento de las variables de empleo durante los últimos dos años.
