This article presents some results of a research project aimed mainly to involve students in scientific modeling activities, through building computer models. The study was conducted with a group of 43 students of Civil and Systems Engineering from Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, located in Ibague, and was based on the scientific modeling, the computational modeling and the Meaningful Critical Learning Theory. The main findings reveal that the implementation of the didactic approach based on problem situations that were modeled on computer programs, favored student interaction, discussion, the formulation of questions based on the Gauss’ Law and the construction of computer models used to represent problem situations presented, generating an understanding of concepts related to the field of knowledge. |

El estudio fue realizado con un grupo de 43 estudiantes de los programas de ingeniería civil y de sistemas, de la Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia – Sede Ibagué, y estuvo fundamentado en la modelación científica, la modelación computacional y la Teoría del Aprendizaje Significativo Crítico. Los principales hallazgos develan que la implementación de la propuesta didáctica fundamentada en situaciones problema a ser modeladas haciendo uso de programas computacionales, favoreció la interacción de los estudiantes, la discusión, la formulación de preguntas de interés sobre la temática de la Ley de Gauss y la construcción de modelos computacionales para representar las situaciones problema planteadas; generándose así la comprensión de conceptos relativos al campo de conocimiento.Nesse artigo se mostram alguns resultados de um projeto de investigação que tinha como principal objetivo envolver os alunos em atividades de modelagem científica através da construção de modelos computacionais. O estudo foi realizado com um grupo de 43 estudantes dos programas de engenharia civil e de sistemas, da Universidade Cooperativa de Colômbia – Sede Ibagué, e foi baseada em modelagem científica, modelagem computacional e teoria da aprendizagem significativa crítica.
