Facultad de Arquitectura y Diseño, Pereira, 2020Ante la situación por la que está atravesando el planeta con respecto al cambio climático y el calentamiento global, es necesario implementar métodos de reutilización de residuos generados por los humanos para reducir el impacto medioambiental. El huevo es uno de los alimentos más consumidos en el país, en lo que respecta a la canasta familiar. Solo en Colombia durante el 2018 se consumieron 13.827 millones de huevos; una cifra que coloca a Colombia como el tercer mayor consumidor de este producto en Latinoamérica, solo superado por México y Brasil, según la Federación Nacional de Avicultores (Fenavi) (Araujo, 2015). Incluso la cascara posee componentes que son benéficos para los huesos del cuerpo, pero todas éstas van a parar como desechos sanitarios cuando su vida útil puede que no haya terminado allí. Además su componente principal es el carbonato de calcio (CaCO3), utilizado en varias zonas de la producción industria. Además, la extracción de calcio de la tierra implica su explotación en grandes canteras, un proceso más contaminante que la construcción, y que no solo causa graves afectaciones en el ambiente, sino que parte de la extracción de un recurso no renovable, que con los años se ha ido acabando por la extracción indiscriminada. La presente investigación surge de la necesidad de reutilizar la cascara de huevo considerada un desecho el cual se producen en grandes cantidades, con el propósito de experimentar con otros compuestos, verificar la compatibilidad, crear nuevos materiales y posteriormente darle un uso adecuado. La investigación busca proporcionar información valiosa para la comunidad y dar a conocer las oportunidades de producción de negocio con resultados innovadores y alternativas enfocadas en la preservación del medio ambiente. Actualmente son muy pocos los proyectos que se están llevando a cabo, relacionados con aprovechamiento de este residuo solido en particular; es por esto que se pretende ser pionero en este campo, para no solo generar conciencia sobre la importancia de realizar una correcta separación de estos residuos, sino también abrir la puerta a la creación de nuevos materiales creados a partir de este tipo de desechos, que contribuirían a fomentar un crecimiento en la economía circular. / Abstract: Given the situation that the planet is going through with respect to climate change and global warming, it is necessary to implement methods of reuse of waste generated by humans to reduce the environmental impact. Eggs are one of the most consumed foods in the country, in regards to the family basket. Only in Colombia during 2018 13,827 million eggs were consumed; a figure that places Colombia as the third largest consumer of this product in Latin America, only surpassed by Mexico and Brazil, according to the National Federation of Poultry Farmers (Fenavi) (Araujo, 2015). Even the shell has components that are beneficial to the bones of the body, but all of these end up as sanitary waste when their useful life may not have ended there. In addition, its main component is calcium carbonate (CaCO3), used in various areas of industrial production. In addition, the extraction of calcium from the earth implies its exploitation in large quarries, a more polluting process than construction, and that not only causes serious effects on the environment, but also starts from the extraction of a non-renewable resource, which with the years has been running out due to indiscriminate extraction.
