Description
Summary:This article covers the analysis and simulation of an off-grid electrical generation system based on renewable sources without energy storage. First of all, strategies for regulation of DC link voltages are proposed for a photovoltaic unit and a self-excited generator. In the first case, a modified maximum power point tracking algorithm has been  implemented. For the self-excited generator, a combination of mechanical (turbine), electromechanical (induction machine), electrical (rectifier) and electronic (PI control of power converter) conversions, were performed. Hence, after having regulated the input voltage of the power inverter, all the effort relied on a droop controller allowing power sharing to distribute reasonably the demand among generators of the grid. The proposed system is potentially a low-cost solution for electrification of rural zones of Colombia.
