The origins of such practice in Colombia date back to the 70s and locate in Pereira city as a pioneer of it. Together with this homicidal dynamic the city has changed, modernized, and transformed its urban setting and has strengthened as a trade and services doomed city-region. Finally, in this analysis a historical dynamics of social exclusion and extermination accompanied by speeches aiming to endorsing such practices, are identified. En este artículo se reflexiona sobre la llamada “limpieza social”, fenómeno de violencia homicida, particularmente en el centro de la ciudad de Pereira. Los orígenes de dicha práctica en Colombia se remontan a los años 70 y ubican a Pereira como una ciudad pionera de los mismos. Junto a esta dinámica homicida la ciudad cambia, se moderniza, transforma su escenario urbano y se fortalece como ciudad región abocada al comercio y los servicios. Se identifican en el presente análisis, dinámicas históricas de exterminio y exclusión social acompañadas de discursos que terminan avalando dichas prácticas.
