| Summary: | In this article we examine the “social cleansing”, a homicidal violence phenomenon particularly in the center of the city of Pereira. The origins of such practice in Colombia date back to the 70s and locate in Pereira city as a pioneer of it. Together with this homicidal dynamic the city has changed, modernized, and transformed its urban setting and has strengthened as a trade and services doomed city-region. Finally, in this analysis a historical dynamics of social exclusion and extermination accompanied by speeches aiming to endorsing such practices, are identified. |
