This work allowed knowing the transformations and changes in family dynamics; it was emphasized in the present situation of Colombian families aiming to identify the population and the issues less addressed by the authors. It is expected to be retaken, in future processes, investigative routes that would evidence the possible problems and needs of families at that moment.El artículo teórico pretende realizar un análisis reflexivo acerca del estado del arte sobre la producción investigativa en el tema de familia; dicho proceso comprenderá desde el año de 1994 hasta el 2010 en el área Metropolitana Centro Occidente, con el fin de identificar las temáticas abordadas por los autores en esta área de conocimiento, las preocupaciones centrales, las tendencias conceptuales y las metodologías implementadas a la hora de investigar la familia como objeto de estudio. Este trabajo posibilitó conocer las trasformaciones y los cambios en las dinámicas familiares, se enfatizó en la situación actual de las familias colombianas con el fin de identificar la población y las temáticas poco abordadas por los autores.
