Los antecedentes demuestran que esta población enfrenta fuertes DE, y, beneficios asociados al engagement. Este estudio es no experimental, cuantitativo, transversal y su alcance es descriptivo correlacional. Se aplicó la encuesta de DE (Ministerio de la Protección Social, 2010) y el UWES-9 (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003). A través de un coeficiente de correlación de Pearson se comprueba la hipótesis alternativa: existe una correlación negativa entre DE y engagement (r=-.13). El impacto de la investigación se presenta en términos económicos y sociales, con los resultados obtenidos se busca beneficiar a la institución y su personal mediante políticas organizacionales. \ Abstract: This research presents the relationship between emotional demands (DE) and work engagement in the healthcare staff of a health institution in Pereira. The antecedents show that this population faces strong DE, and, benefits associated with engagement. This study is non-experimental, quantitative, transversal and its scope is descriptive correlational. The survey of DE (Ministry of Social Protection, 2010) and UWES-9 (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003) was applied. The alternative hypothesis is verified: There is a negative correlation between DE and engagement (r = -. 13), through a Pearson correlation coefficient.
