The characteristics of each region andsocioeconomic conditions dictate that there are significant differentials in realincome received by employees in each of the cities. Therefore the behavior ofthe minimum wage in the Colombian coffee growing axis is studied.El artículo estudia la política de salario mínimo en Colombia los antecedentes en el contexto internacional y el surgimiento en el país, las consecuencias legales y económicas y sus efectos tanto en la dinámica empresarial como en la política laboral. A pesar de la regulación nacional los efectos y su impacto en términos reales es diferente para todas las regiones del país. Las características y condiciones socioeconómicas propias de cada región hacen que existan diferenciales significativos en los ingresos reales recibidos por los trabajadores asalariados en cada una de las ciudades.
